About the Placement


Film Director

Directing feature films, short films, or documentaries

Collaborating with writers, producers, and cinematographers to bring a script to life. Managing the creative vision of the project.

Television Director

Directing episodes for TV series. Working with a team of writers, producers, and actors to maintain the show's consistent style.

Commercial Director:

Creating visual narratives for advertising campaigns. Working closely with clients and production teams to achieve marketing goals.

Music Video Director:

Collaborating with musicians to visually interpret their music. Developing concepts and overseeing the production of music videos.

Theater Director:

Directing live performances on stage.Working with actors, set designers, and other creatives to bring a play to life.

Production Manager:

Coordinating various aspects of production, such as scheduling, budgeting, and personnel.

Production Coordinator:

Assisting in the planning and execution of various production tasks. Liaising between different departments.

Cinematographer/Director of Photography (DOP):

Responsible for the visual elements of a film or TV show. Collaborating with the director to achieve the desired look.

About the Faculty

Prof. Suvadro Chowdhury

Prof. Suvadro Chowdhury


Born on 4th of August, 1969, Suvadro Chowdhury graduated in English Literature from Calcutta University. At the age of 22, he entered the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune as a student of Film Direction.

Three years later, his Diploma Film ‘Still Life’ earned him the National Award for Best Short Fiction Film (Rajat kamal 1996). The film was screened at more than twenty international film festivals.

Since then, Suvadro has worked as a freelance director in Kolkata. He has directed several feature-length telefilms and television episodes for regional private channels and Doordarshan as well.

In 2002, Suvadro made his debut feature film in Bengali, ‘Prohor’ (In Course Of Time). The Film won him the National Award for Best Debut Feature Film (Indira Gandhi Award 2002). Prohor was also honoured with a Special Jury award in the International section, of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), 2002, besides being screened the world over at several festivals. Suvadro also served as jury member for the prestigious national award in 2005.

After a break of four years, Suvadro made his second feature film ‘Clerk’, with leading Bengali star, Prosenjit Chatterjee. Clerk was premiered at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival, 2010 and also released in Kolkata, where it ran for weeks. Twice a National and an International Award winning director, Suvadro had taught film direction at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) for six years. During his teaching days he also directed several diploma films with the students. Currently, he is teaching in Chandigarh University as a professor in the direction department.
